FLAGSTAFF – FLAGSTAFF FRENZY MBAA

LOCATION:
Fort Valley Trailhead (Map)
Flagstaff, AZ

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The XC series finale, this race can make or break a few titles. Riders will be at altitude with a wee bit of climbing 🙂Expect pine trees a plenty and some descending that will keep you grinning ear to ear!

DIRECTIONS/CAMPING:
Camping is permitted on National Forest Land near Fort Valley trailhead. There is also camping at the Freidlein Dispersed Camping Area off of Snow Bowl Rd. Please take a look at our venue map to know where park & camp.

Note, this will also be NAU graduation weekend so if you’re looking to book a hotel book early.

Expert (Cat 1) – Wicked fast, seasoned racer
Intermediate (Cat 2) – Dang fast, not just a weekend warrior, usually rides quite bit
Beginner (Cat 3) – Relatively new to the sport
First Timer – Newbie, never raced with MBAA or has no experience with mountain bike racing
Single Speed – Only one gear on bike, likes to suffer (our kind of folks)
Masters Men 60+ – Older gents, 60+ years of age
Rock Crusher – Gents 200lbs or more
Fat Bike – 3 inch tires or wider
Marathon – Long distance rider, approx. 3.5-hrs or more per race, likes to really suffer (most definitely our kind of folks)
Junior – Ages 6-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14
Kids – 7 & under that likes a short, FREE race

Note – if you are racing Expert 45+ men or Expert Single Speed men and want a shot at cash, you need to change categories and race Expert Open. No exceptions, no changing after the fact.

  • Green Arrows – Junior Loop (4-miles) – A fun loop through the pine trees on the Fort Valley trails.
  • Blue Arrows – Short Loop (8-miles) – A longer loop up and around some rocky climbs and ripping fast descents!
  • Black Arrows – Long Loop (20-miles) GPS – A much longer loop all around the best parts of Flagstaff. Rocky Moto out to Lower Oldham, up Elden Lookout Rd. Down the AZT and back through the Fort Valley trails.

PRESCOTT – PRESCOTT PUNISHER MBAA

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Prescott is a fantastic area for mountain biking. Just two weeks before the Whiskey Off-Road, this race will be a great, high intensity tune up for those racing the Whiskey. There are a lot of new trails at Pioneer Park. Fast, fun, flowy, singletrack!

DIRECTIONS/CAMPING:
There will be free camping at Pioneer Park in dirt lot to the south of the baseball field and in the main paved parking lot (see the map).

WHITE TANK – WHITE TANK WHIRLWIND MBAA

LOCATION: 
White Tanks Regional Park (Map)

GENERAL INFORMATION:
White Tank Regional Park is a great course with a mix of flow and technical sections that has long been a staple of the MBAA. White Tanks is part of the Maricopa County Regional park system, it’s close to the Phoenix Metro area and offers up some all around great riding.

There is a $6 per vehicle entrance fee for this park.

DIRECTIONS/CAMPING:
From central Phoenix, take I -10 west towards LA they will take exit 125 (Sarival).  At Sarival they will take a Right on to Sarival.  Next street will be McDowell they will take a Left at McDowell.  Follow McDowell till you reach the 303 and make a Right on the 303.  Follow the 303 till you reach Northern and make a Left onto Northern.  Follow Northern till you reach Cotton and make a Right onto Cotton.  Follow Cotton till you reach Olive and make a Left onto Olive and follow Olive to the park.  Follow park road all the way till it ends to the Competitive track location.

From the North – If those coming down the 303 from the North  then they will follow 303 till they reach Cactus and make a Right onto Cactus and follow Cactus till they reach Cotton and make a Left.  Follow Cotton till you reach Olive and make a Right on Olive.  Follow Olive to the Park.  Once at the park follow may park road till the end of the park road to the Competitive track.

CAMPING:
Camping is allowed at this venue. No RV hookups. Review our venue map to ensure you won’t be in the way!

  • Blue Arrows – Inner loop (5-miles) GPS – A slightly longer version of the fast and flowy Junior loop.
  • Black Arrows – Outer loop (7-miles) GPS – The Outer loop has a bit more teach when it branches off from the Inner loop. Up a steep switchback climb and down a technical descent.

LAKE HAVASU – HAVASU HAVOC MBAA

GENERAL INFORMATION:
We are returning to Havasu! A scenic drive, awesome views and fun trail…and some good local beer enticed us back to this venue. Sara Park has a BMX track, baseball fields and plenty of other goodness for the whole family. Be sure to visit the lake. It is amazingly clear and HUGE.  We will be staging out of the Rodeo grounds and we’ll have plenty of room for campers/RV’s etc.

CAMPING:
RVs are allowed
– (no hookups) will be available at this new venue Thursday until Sunday am – only issue is we may need you to move, as we will not have anyone available to tell you where to camp at the Rodeo Grounds till Friday afternoon. Review our site layout for where to setup.

Tent camping is ok at the Rodeo Grounds only (dirt lot).

  • Green Arrows – Junior (3-miles) – A fun quick loop around the fair grounds, great for spectating.
  • Blue Arrows – Watershed (10-miles) – A jewel in the desert with spectacular views of the cliffs. The course starts out with a fast rolling climb before turning onto the spine and through the canyon. The singletrack is sure to keep a big smile on your face!

ESTRELLA – HEDGEHOG HUSTLE

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Estrella Mountain Park is in the shadow of the legendary Phoenix International Raceway. This course offers up a scenic venue for spectators and racers alike. Be sure to freshen up your sealant, and bring tubes. This course has been known for taking some tubes.

DIRECTIONS/CAMPING:
I-10 W toward Los Angeles
Take exit 131 for Avondale Blvd
Turn left onto Avondale Blvd
Follow Avondale Blvd to Phoenix International Raceway (PIR)
Turn left on Avenida Estrella (look for small brown park/trail signs on right)- if you pass all Of the graded parking lots for PIR you’ve gone too far!
Go straight till you have to turn left into the park self pay station
Pay park fee…follow pavement towards track, which will be on your left.
There is a $6 entry fee for each vehicle.

CAMPING:
Is available at this venue, note operations needs space to set up, take a peek at our venue map to ensure you won’t have to move your camp!

$12 per vehicle / night.

COURSE MAPS:
Estrella Hedgehog Hustle
Estrella Hedgehog Hustle – Marathon

  • Green Arrows Junior Loop Backwards (1.6-miles) – The Junior loop will be run counter clockwise, sending riders through the finish chute each lap.
  • Blue Arrows – Long Loop (9.5-miles) GPS – Quick climb out of the gate, a nice low grade climb to the first saddle, a few dips/hills, and speedy areas to the last saddle. Once to the last saddle, you will be stoked for the final descent.
  • Black Arrows – Tech Loop (4.7-miles)  GPS – Quick climb out the gate, followed by single track with a moderate climb to the saddle, riders then work their way back through a rock garden to the final saddle, before descending back toward the finish/lap area.
  • Red Arrows – Marathon Loop (23-miles) – Head out on the traditional long loop, prior to the final climb of the lap, hang a left and head out on the service road briefly which takes you to Estrella Regional Park. Take a left onto Gadsden to Toothaker up and over, then a right on Dysart, left on Butterfield and right on Gadsden before making a final left onto Desert Rose and head back to the competitive track to finish out the long loop.
